While the contributor identifies 1,125 as a maximum word count, the findings are restricted to medical keywords. The jump in traffic (57%) is impressive, so increasing word counts on existing articles is something to consider.

Backlinko has a lot of data around this. They determined that although word count is a factor, there’s actually no correlation between word count + rankings. BUT the average word count for first page results is 1447  = so there is a link with rankings + QUALITY in-depth content.

Taking all of these recommendations to heart, you might reasonably conclude that a minimum article length should aim for 1,000 words for SEO purposes. Does this minimum word count apply to every keyword target? Absolutely not. But our best practice recommendation is to focus on creating quality content that gives depth and subject matter expertise for the keyword areas you want to rank.
